Costumes, Hair, & Accessories List Per Class

Costumes will be sent home with students on their last day of normal class before the recital rehearsals begin (assuming all payments are up to date).  Below are all of the costume, hair, and accessory requirements for the recital. Please note that changes may be made during rehearsals to accommodate the kids’ needs and costume changes. Some items are labeled TBD, these are to be decided ASAP in class and rehearsal and will be updated below when they are.

For Hip Hop shoes & sneakers, if your dancers shoes have any details on them that do not match their color (like a logo or design), you can cover it with electrical tape or duct tape. The soles of the shoes should not matter. This is necessary because the stage lights magnify bright colors & white onstage and we want the attention to be drawn to your awesome dancing, not your shoes. We find electrical tape works best because it leaves less residue. You can also use a sharpie if you wish. For any help or advice please feel free to ask your teacher or Patty.

Recital Makeup/Jewelry

We strongly encourage using stage makeup for the recital because of the size of the UPAC theater and the stage lights. The stage lights are very bright and without the use of makeup, dancers’ faces often look completely washed out and the audience is not able to see their eyes or facial features.

Masculine Presenting / Non- Binary dancers may choose to just use eyeliner, mascara, neutral lip. Comfort comes first so that is dancers choice.

Unless otherwise specified by a teacher please follow these makeup guidelines: 

  • Eyeshadow: browns, golds, neutral colors
  • Mascara / Eyeliner: black/brown eyeliner top and bottom, Black Mascara (fake lashes optional but NOT REQUIRED at all)
  • Brows: brown pencil to lightly accentuate dances who have very light eyebrows
  • Blush: dancers choice
  • Lip: neutrals, browns, pinks (PLEASE NO RED LIPSTICK unless specifcally asked by teacher)

No Jewelry is permitted with the exception of small earring studs. This is to keep everyone safe and avoid accidents/injury from things flying off and getting caught while dancing.
