Masks
Effective March 2, 2022 the NYS Governor lifted the mask mandate for schools in NYS. We have been following the guidelines that the local schools were given, therefore wearing masks inside Dream Studio is optional.
We reserve the right to reverse this decision in order to keep our students and staff safe..
Personal Hygiene and Cleanliness
Dance, due to its physical nature, produces perspiration which requires all dancers to keep their bodies, dance clothes, and dance shoes clean and odor free as possible. Parents are encouraged to help their student/s maintain good personal hygiene habits, and provide frequent cleaning of all dance clothes and shoes.
Hair
Students in Grades 5 and up must wear their hair in a ballet bun, including pulled up bangs, hair ties, hair pins, and hair net. Messy buns will not be permitted in class. Students in these classes will not be taking class if their hair is not in a proper bun.
Students in Grade 4 and younger should have their hair up. A ballet bun is preferred, but we understand that younger students may be unable to put their hair in a ballet bun by themselves, if a parent’s assistance is not available.
Students of all other dance techniques are also required to have their hair up and away from their face, though not necessarily in a bun.
We understand that dancers have different textures and length of hair. Those that cannot wear a ballet bun need to ensure that stray pieces, braids, and bangs are neatly pinned back with hair pins and a hair net and secured away from the face.
Dress Code
Inclusivity and acceptance are at the forefront of our mission. We accept every student for who they are. Our dress code is gender-neutral and every dancer should wear which option feels appropriate to them. Jewelry may not be worn with the exception of small studded earrings. The selected attire is to support every dancer’s safety and comfort.
Aerial Silks
Students may wear capri length yoga pants, or close fitting shorts to the knee, with close fitted t-shirt. Hair longer than chin length must be worn up. Bare feet.
(No baggy or loose fitting clothes as these get tangled in the silks, and impede proper movement.) No jewelry. (Stud earrings are the exception.)
Little Dreamers
Students need ballet shoes and tap shoes, and may wear comfortable clothing.
